I am very impressed with the service I received from HEP. I recently had them install a tankless water heater and relocate the hookups to my basement. This left a hole in the ceiling from the vent, some holes in the floor for the old piping, as well as an unfinished piece of flooring where the old hot water heater used to sit. The quote I received wasn't specific to either include or exclude the time of a dry waller to match the stamped patter of my ceiling surface or for someone to come out and replace a piece of subfloor AND lay new laminate flooring. I didn't have to argue. I am used to having to argue to get good service from contractors and HEP just did the work no questions asked. In addition to the plumbing work they sent out two separate service calls to fix the ceiling and the floor and the space looks like there was never a hot water heater to begin with. I'm sure that those additional trips ate into their planned budget/profit of the water heater installation but since the quote and contract weren't specific they just did the work without any push back! I will definitely be spending my money with HEP in the future because I trust that they have integrity with their work and they aren't just in it for a quick buck. They are obviously looking to build relationships for lifelong customers. I will be that lifelong customer. I already have another quote with them for another project in the works.

Reliable Tankless Water Heater Installation in Apison by HEP

Residents of Apison, Tennessee, value comfort, efficiency, and reliability in their home plumbing systems. When it comes to delivering endless hot water without the bulky footprint of a traditional storage tank, HEP’s tankless water heater install service has become a top choice. The company’s licensed plumbers focus on precision workmanship, advanced technology, and solutions tailored to local water conditions, ensuring every household gains the long-term advantages of on-demand heating.

Tankless water heaters, sometimes called demand-type or instantaneous water heaters, produce hot water exactly when it is needed. By eliminating standby heat loss, they often outperform conventional tanks in energy conservation and longevity. HEP equips homeowners in Apison with carefully selected units—gas or electric—matched to household demand, local building codes, and individual preference.

Why Homeowners in Apison Choose Tankless Technology

Immediate Comfort and Convenience

  • Endless supply of hot water for back-to-back showers, laundry, and dishwashing
  • No waiting period for a tank to refill and reheat
  • Compact design frees up storage space in basements, garages, or utility closets

Energy Savings in a Variety of Household Sizes

Traditional storage tanks continuously heat water whether or not it is used. In contrast, a tankless water heater only operates when hot water is called for. Over time, the reduction in wasted energy contributes to:

Gas vs. Electric Tankless Water Heaters in Apison Climate

Gas Tankless Systems

Natural gas and propane tankless models excel in high-demand scenarios, offering rapid temperature rise at substantial flow rates—ideal for larger families or homes with multiple bathrooms. Particular considerations include:

  • Sufficient gas supply line diameter
  • Category III or IV venting materials for flue gases
  • Outdoor vs. indoor mounting based on space availability and aesthetic preferences

Electric Tankless Systems

Electric units shine in smaller residences, condos, or additions where gas service is unavailable or challenging to extend. Advantages:

  • No need for combustion air or venting
  • Simplified installation when adequate amperage is present in the electrical panel
  • Zero on-site emissions, aligning with eco-conscious living

HEP conducts on-site evaluations to determine if service panel upgrades or gas line extensions are needed prior to installation, thereby avoiding delays and unexpected modifications.

Step-By-Step Overview of HEP’s Tankless Water Heater Install Process

  1. Detailed in-home assessment: fixture count, simultaneous usage analysis, and water quality testing
  2. Load calculation: GPM (gallons per minute) requirements, temperature rise needed, and fuel source availability
  3. Equipment selection: recommending condensing, non-condensing, gas, or electric models that align with homeowner goals
  4. Pre-installation preparations: permits, material procurement, scheduling, and workspace protection
  5. System removal: safe disconnection and disposal of existing tank
  6. Infrastructure adaptations: upsizing gas lines or installing new breakers and wiring for electric models
  7. Mounting and connections: secure placement, leak-free water line joints, and airtight venting assembly
  8. Commissioning and testing: verifying flow rate, temperature stability, and safety shut-offs
  9. Instruction and documentation: user orientation, warranty paperwork, and recommended maintenance intervals

Key Considerations Before Scheduling a Tankless Water Heater Upgrade

Flow Rate Requirements

Calculating maximum simultaneous demand is paramount for correct sizing. For example:

  • Shower (2.5 GPM) + dishwasher (1.5 GPM) + washing machine (2.0 GPM) = 6.0 GPM needed at peak usage

Temperature Rise

Apison’s incoming groundwater temperature typically hovers around 55–60°F. Desired hot water temperature for most fixtures is 120°F. Therefore, the tankless unit must deliver a 60–65°F rise at the calculated flow rate. HEP’s staff uses manufacturer curves to ensure units are not undersized.

Fuel Source Infrastructure

  • Natural gas line pressure and volume
  • Propane tank location and size if bottled fuel is used
  • Electrical panel capacity—dedicated 240-volt circuits may be required

Water Softening Requirements

Hard water introduces mineral scaling that can shorten heat exchanger life. HEP tests hardness levels and, if necessary, integrates:

  • Whole-house water softeners
  • Inline scale reducers or filters
  • Scheduled descaling service reminders

Common Plumbing Challenges in Apison Homes and How HEP Addresses Them

  1. Legacy galvanized steel piping that restricts flow
  2. Confined crawl spaces, especially in older constructions
  3. Mixed material water supply lines (copper, PEX, CPVC) requiring specialized fittings
  4. Limited vent termination options due to architectural features

HEP’s plumbers bring problem-solving expertise, using flexible stainless connectors, concentric vents, and compact condensate pumps to overcome space and venting obstacles.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Advantages

Reduced Standby Heat Loss

Storage tanks constantly cycle to maintain set temperatures. Eliminating the reservoir curtails heat dissipation through tank walls and plumbing lines.

Smart Modulation

Modern tankless systems utilize variable-speed blowers and modulating burners or heating elements. This means the unit only consumes the energy necessary for real-time demands, enhancing overall efficiency.

Lower Carbon Footprint

In homes switching from outdated, low-efficiency gas or electric tanks, the transition to high-efficiency tankless units can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by hundreds of pounds annually.

Plumbing Code Compliance and Safety Protocols Implemented by HEP

  • Use of ANSI-rated venting materials and UL-listed components
  • Adherence to International Plumbing Code (IPC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as adopted by Tennessee
  • Proper clearance distances from combustibles and fresh air intake positioning
  • Seismic strapping and condensate neutralization where required

HEP maintains detailed installation checklists to ensure every step aligns with local ordinances, protecting homeowners from potential fines or safety hazards.

Post-Installation Support and Maintenance Plans

Tankless water heaters need routine servicing for optimal performance. HEP offers customizable maintenance plans that include:

  • Annual flushing with descaling agents to remove mineral buildup
  • Inspection of burner assembly, heat exchanger, and venting path
  • Replacement of water filters and cleaning of inlet screens
  • Verification of temperature sensors and flow regulators

Apison’s water composition may vary seasonally, making consistent maintenance crucial for longevity.

Signs It’s Time to Replace a Conventional Tank With a Tankless Model

  • Frequent shortage of hot water during peak demand
  • Rising energy bills despite steady usage patterns
  • Visible rust around tank fittings or water discoloration
  • Audible popping or rumbling as sediment accumulates
  • Home renovations adding new bathrooms or high-flow fixtures

HEP helps homeowners evaluate these signals and choose the most efficient upgrade path, ensuring long-term savings.

Materials and Tools HEP Utilizes for Precision Installations

These advanced instruments allow HEP’s plumbers to fine-tune installations, minimizing disruptions and maximizing performance.

Frequently Overlooked Placement Factors

Ambient Temperature Around the Unit

Placing the heater in unconditioned spaces like garages can expose it to temperature swings. HEP evaluates:

  • Freeze risk during winter
  • Adequate combustion air supply for gas units
  • Condensation concerns in humid months

Vent Termination Points

Vent pipe lengths, elbows, and termination clearances affect exhaust efficiencies. HEP’s technicians map routes that:

  • Avoid proximity to windows, doors, and soffits
  • Ensure condensate drains slope correctly
  • Meet manufacturer specifications for equivalent pipe length

Serviceability

Future maintenance needs easy access. HEP ensures:

  • Clearance for filter changes and descaling connections
  • Electrical shutoff and gas valve accessibility
  • Room to detach and replace components when necessary

Water Quality in Apison and Its Impact on Tankless Performance

Water in the Apison area can carry dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Over time, scale forms on the heat exchanger’s internal surfaces, impeding heat transfer. HEP’s mitigation strategies include:

  • Point-of-entry softeners with programmable regeneration cycles
  • Polyphosphate cartridge filters that sequester hardness ions
  • Periodic vinegar or citric acid flushes scheduled annually or semi-annually depending on hardness level

In addition, chlorine levels from municipal treatment can dry out rubber seals inside the unit. HEP inspects and replaces these seals during regular service visits to prevent leaks and maintain efficiency.
