We had an old shutoff valve fail under the kitchen sink fail and was leaking profusely. Shut water off at main, called HEP at 7 am April 18. We were scheduled for afternoon repair but request earlier time if possible. Shortly afterward we got scheduled much earlier. Our repairman was Ernest Kerekes and he did a great job replacing the valve and eliminated a mess done by someone else when they had added a homemade “Tee” to supply hot water to a dishwater. He did it how it should have been done originally. Ernest was very professional, polite, and his appearance was excellent. He certainly is an asset to your company and we won’t hesitate to call you for any future needs. Steve and Johnnie Forrest.

Understanding the Importance of Plumbing Pipe Upgrades in Estill Springs

The quiet community of Estill Springs rests on a landscape shaped by creeks, limestone outcroppings, and decades-old water infrastructure. Many homes were built when galvanized steel, polybutylene, or thin-walled copper were the prevailing pipe materials. Over time, local water chemistry—characterized by moderate hardness, mineral content, and seasonal temperature swings—accelerates internal corrosion, pinhole leaks, and mineral buildup. A plumbing pipe upgrade delivered by HEP targets these vulnerabilities so residents can rely on consistent pressure, healthy water quality, and long-term structural integrity.

Common Problems with Aging Pipes in the Region

  • Orange or rust-tinted water first thing in the morning
  • Sudden drops in flow when multiple fixtures run simultaneously
  • Metallic or earthy taste caused by internal corrosion
  • Ceiling stains near second-story bathrooms after heavy shower use
  • Intermittent leaks at joints patched several times with epoxy

Every symptom points to pipes approaching the end of their service life. Instead of constant repair cycles that disrupt routines, a comprehensive upgrade replaces outdated lines with modern PEX or Type L copper and restores peace of mind.
