FAQs
What situations count as an emergency tank water-heater replacement in Newcomb?
Any scenario where your existing storage unit is leaking, has burst, is overheating, producing discoloured water, tripping the safety switch, or leaving your home without hot water during critical times (night, weekends, holidays) is considered an emergency. These faults can cause flooding, property damage, scalding or electrical hazards, so they warrant same-day professional attention.
How fast can you get a new tank water heater installed once I call?
Our Newcomb on-call team is available 24/7. In most cases we can be on site within 1 hour, assess the failure in 20–30 minutes, and replace the tank within 2–3 hours once the correct unit is confirmed. If the call comes after supplier trading hours, we carry common 50 L–315 L electric and 135 L–170 L gas storage cylinders on our service trucks, allowing us to complete almost all emergency replacements immediately.
What brands and capacities do you stock for urgent replacements?
To minimise downtime we pre-stock leading Australian brands such as Rheem, Rinnai, Dux, Vulcan and Thermann in the most requested sizes: 50 L, 80 L, 125 L, 160 L, 250 L and 315 L electric; and 135 L, 155 L and 170 L gas. All units meet Australian Standard AS 3498 and include manufacturer warranties of 7–12 years on cylinders. If you need a solar-boosted or heat-pump model that we don’t carry on the truck, we can still install a temporary tank the same day and return with the chosen high-efficiency system once available.
Do I need council approval or an inspection for a same-day heater swap?
For a like-for-like replacement in the same location, Greater Geelong Council generally does not require prior approval. Our licensed plumbers lodge a digital Certificate of Compliance with the Victorian Building Authority, and a VBA audit inspector may attend randomly. If the new unit needs relocation, extra plumbing, or a change from electric to gas, we’ll advise you immediately about any permits or gas-fitters notices required and handle all paperwork.
What will an emergency replacement cost and what payment options are there?
Pricing varies with tank size, energy type, valve kit requirements and after-hours timing. As a guide, an emergency 50 L electric swap starts around $990 supplied and installed, while a 315 L unit can be $1,790–$2,200. Gas storage replacements range from $1,450–$2,300. We provide an upfront fixed quote before work starts. Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS, bank transfer, or interest-free payment plans through Humm and Zip (applied in minutes on-site). Seniors and pension card discounts are also available.
Do you take away the old tank and what happens to the water left inside?
Yes. Part of our service is to drain the failed cylinder safely, disconnect it from water, gas or power, and remove it from the property. We pump the remaining hot water to a floor drain or outside lawn to avoid flooding. The tank is then transported to a licensed metal recycler where copper and steel are separated for re-use, diverting waste from landfill. All work is carried out in accordance with EPA Victoria guidelines.
