FAQs

What is a salt-free water conditioner and how does it differ from a traditional water softener?

A salt-free conditioner uses template assisted crystallization (TAC) media to change the structure of dissolved hardness minerals so they remain suspended and do not stick to pipes or fixtures. Because it does not exchange calcium and magnesium for sodium, it adds no salt to the water, requires no brine tank, and wastes no water during regeneration. Traditional softeners physically remove hardness through ion exchange, leaving water "soft" but producing salty wastewater and ongoing salt expenses.

Will a salt-free conditioner effectively handle Mulberry’s hard-water levels?

Yes. Municipal testing shows Mulberry water averages 10–14 grains per gallon (gpg). TAC-based conditioners are certified to prevent scaling up to 25 gpg, so they comfortably cover our local hardness range. You will notice reduced spotting on glass, easier cleaning of fixtures, and better performance of appliances that heat water.

Can the system be added to my home without major plumbing changes?

Typically, installation takes about two hours and requires only a ¾" or 1" cold-water main with 18–24 inches of straight pipe. Our technicians mount the conditioner in line, add a bypass valve for servicing, and verify flow direction. No electrical outlet or drain is needed, so most Mulberry homes—from older bungalows to new builds—require no structural rerouting.

What kind of maintenance will I need to perform?

Maintenance is minimal. The catalytic media lasts 6–8 years on Mulberry’s water before replacement is necessary. There is no salt to buy, no monthly programming, and no regeneration cycle. An annual 5-micron sediment pre-filter change (5–10 minutes with a housing wrench) is recommended to protect the media from debris.

Is the conditioned water safe to drink, and does it remove other contaminants?

Absolutely. Because the minerals are not removed—only re-crystallized—your water retains healthy calcium and magnesium with no added sodium. The conditioner, however, is designed for scale control, not broad contaminant removal. Pairing it with a carbon block or reverse-osmosis filter will address chlorine, taste, odors, lead, and other impurities if those are a concern.

How long will the unit last and what warranty do you offer?

The non-electric vessel is rated for 20+ years, and the TAC media carries a 6-year performance warranty. If the media stops preventing scale within that period, we replace it at no charge. All installation labor is warrantied for one year, and extended service plans are available for additional peace of mind.
