FAQs
What is high-pressure water jetting and how does it clear blocked drains?
High-pressure water jetting involves forcing water through a specialised hose and nozzle at pressures of up to 4,000 psi. The concentrated jet scours the inside of the pipe, breaking up fat, scale, roots and other debris before flushing the loosened material away to the main sewer. Because only clean water is used, the method is environmentally friendly, fast and far more effective than rodding or chemical drain cleaners.
Is high-pressure jetting safe for old or fragile pipework?
Yes. Before any jetting begins our engineer carries out a visual inspection and, where necessary, a quick CCTV survey to confirm pipe material, diameter and condition. The water pressure, nozzle type and flow rate are then matched to the pipe’s integrity, meaning cast-iron, clay and even some pitch-fibre lines can be cleaned without damage. If a pipe is too delicate, we will recommend alternative low-pressure or mechanical cleaning methods instead.
How quickly can you attend an emergency blockage in the Manchester area?
We operate 24/7 across Greater Manchester. For most city-centre and suburban postcodes we can have a fully equipped jetting van on site within 60–90 minutes of your call, day or night. Our live tracking system keeps you updated on the exact arrival time, and there is no additional call-out fee for evenings, weekends or bank holidays.
Will jetting stop my drains blocking again, or do I need further investigation?
A single jetting visit will remove the immediate obstruction, but recurring blockages usually point to an underlying issue such as root ingress, pipe collapse, sagging or heavy scale. After jetting we can run a HD CCTV camera through the line and provide a digital report that pinpoints any defects. If repairs or lining are needed we will supply a fixed quotation, helping you prevent future disruptions.
How much does high-pressure jetting cost in Manchester?
For residential properties our standard fixed price starts from £95+VAT, which covers the first hour on site, use of the jetter and a free downstream CCTV look-see. Commercial rates begin at £120+VAT due to larger pipe diameters and additional health-and-safety compliance. All costs are confirmed upfront, and you only pay when the drain is running free and you are satisfied with the results.
Do I need to do anything before your drainage engineer arrives?
Just make sure we have clear access to the affected manholes, gullies or stack pipes. If the blockage is indoors, please move any valuables from the work area and keep pets out of the way. We bring our own water supply, generator and protective sheeting, so you don’t need to provide power or hoses. Once finished, we disinfect the work zone and remove all waste, leaving your property clean and fully operational.
