FAQs
What is high-pressure jetting and how does it work?
High-pressure jetting (also called hydro-jetting) uses a specialized hose and nozzle to blast water at pressures of up to 4,000 psi through your pipework. The focused stream scours the full internal diameter of the pipe, cutting through grease, scale, tree roots and other debris, then flushes the loosened material to the main sewer. Unlike mechanical rodding, the water reaches every bend and branch, giving the line a 360-degree clean.
Is hydro-jetting safe for my pipes?
Yes—when performed by trained, licensed plumbers, hydro-jetting is safe for the vast majority of residential and commercial drain lines, including PVC, copper, cast-iron and clay. Before jetting we inspect the line (often with a CCTV camera) to confirm structural integrity and choose the correct pressure and nozzle for the pipe material and diameter. If your pipe is severely cracked or collapsed, we will recommend repair options instead.
When should I choose high-pressure jetting instead of traditional snaking?
Snaking is ideal for soft, simple clogs near a fixture. Jetting is preferred when you have: • recurring blockages that come back after snaking • heavy grease, sludge or mineral scale build-up • root intrusion from nearby trees • commercial kitchens or multi-occupancy buildings that need preventive maintenance. Jetting not only clears the blockage but also cleans the pipe walls, greatly reducing the chance of future clogs.
How long does a typical drain jetting service take?
Most residential jobs are completed in 60-90 minutes, including line inspection, set-up, jetting and final flow test. Larger commercial lines or severe root intrusions can take 2–3 hours. We will give you a time estimate after the initial assessment and keep disruption to your home or business to a minimum.
Will jetting solve recurring blockages permanently?
Hydro-jetting removes almost all build-up and residue, restoring the pipe to near-original capacity, so it often eliminates ongoing problems for years. However, blockages caused by structural defects, bellies or heavy root growth can reoccur. After jetting we provide a video inspection and maintenance recommendations—such as root-control treatments or scheduled annual jetting—to keep the line clear long-term.
Do I need to prepare my property before the technician arrives?
Preparation is minimal. Please: 1) Clear access to the clean-out or affected fixture; 2) Avoid running water or flushing toilets 30 minutes before the appointment; 3) Inform the plumber of any known issues or previous repairs. For commercial sites, arrange safe access to grease traps or roof vents if required. We bring water and power options in our mobile unit, so no additional setup on your part is needed.
