FAQs

What is high-pressure water jetting and how does it clear blocked drains?

High-pressure water jetting uses a specialised pump to force water through a flexible hose and jetting nozzle at pressures up to 4,000 psi (275 bar). The powerful water stream scours the inside walls of the pipe, breaking up grease, silt, scale, tree roots and other obstructions, then flushes the debris downstream for safe removal. Because it relies on water rather than mechanical cutters or harsh chemicals, it cleans the entire pipe circumference, restoring full flow and reducing the likelihood of repeat blockages.

Is high-pressure jetting safe for my pipework?

Yes. When carried out by trained engineers, jetting is one of the safest and most non-intrusive drain-clearing methods. Before starting, we assess the pipe material (PVC, clay, cast iron, etc.) and choose the correct pressure and nozzle type. Our Bristol team is fully accredited and follows Water Jetting Association best-practice guidelines to ensure your drainage system is cleaned without causing cracks, joint displacement or other damage.

How quickly can you attend an emergency drain blockage in Bristol?

We operate a 24/7 emergency response service across Bristol and the surrounding areas. In most cases we can have an engineer on site within 60–90 minutes of your call. Our vans are fully equipped with jetting units, CCTV cameras and pipe repair materials so we can diagnose and resolve the majority of blockages during the first visit.

Will high-pressure jetting solve recurring blockages permanently?

Jetting removes the root cause of most repeat blockages—built-up grease, scale and intrusive roots—rather than just punching a small hole through the obstruction. After jetting, we often carry out a CCTV survey to confirm that the pipe is completely clear and to spot any structural defects. If the survey reveals cracks or misalignments, we can recommend trenchless patch repairs or relining to provide a long-term fix.

Do I need to prepare anything before your engineers arrive?

Very little. Please ensure that any manholes, inspection chambers or internal clean-out points are accessible (move vehicles, garden furniture, etc.). Let us know if you have recently used chemical drain cleaners, as this may require additional safety precautions. If the blockage is inside your property, keep pets and children away from the work area for their safety.

How much does high-pressure jetting cost in Bristol?

Our pricing is transparent and competitive. For residential properties, we charge a fixed call-out rate that covers the first hour of labour, including jetting and basic CCTV inspection if needed. Most household blockages are cleared within this time. Any additional hours, specialist root-cutting or extensive CCTV surveys are quoted on site before work continues. We also offer discounted rates for landlords, letting agents and planned preventative maintenance contracts.
